Job Summary

The Controller is responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial operations of a privately held organization. This role also serves as the primary liaison for human resources administration and provides strategic financial guidance to executive leadership.

Department: Accounting / Finance

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and prepare cash flow projections.
  • Manage organizational cash flow and financial resources.
  • Maintain business insurance programs and related requirements.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly financial statements and reports.
  • Analyze and reconcile financial data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Coordinate human resources administrative functions, including payroll processing and onboarding activities, in partnership with external service providers.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with banks and financial institutions.
  • Advise leadership on insurance coverage and risk management strategies.
  • Lead the budgeting process, including budget development, review, supporting documentation, and financial justification.
  • Monitor tax law changes and recommend operational or financial adjustments as needed.
  • Support the development of financial strategies, objectives, and organizational policies.
  • Assist with annual tax filings and related compliance requirements.
  • Maintain and organize contracts, corporate records, and legal documentation.

Additional Responsibilities

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting
  • MBA with a concentration in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • 7–10 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems such as ISO 9001 preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, contracts, and legal documents.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, customers, regulatory agencies, financial institutions, and business partners.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Primarily an office-based environment with occasional exposure to operational or manufacturing areas.
  • Moderate noise levels are typical.
