Audio Visual Technical Support (Part Time)

St. Mark's Presbyterian Church is seeking Part Time Audio Visual Help!

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Technical & Communications Support / Lead candidate shall be a committed Christian. The candidate will assist in worship leadership by developing and implementing an exceptional Audio / Visual ministry for all church services. The candidate will also serve in a non-voting capacity on the Communications Committee and will assist in managing all of St. Mark’s online platforms. The position is directly accountable to the Pastor as Head of Staff. This position may voluntarily serve on various other committees in a non-voting advisory capacity as well.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintain a reliable system for providing technical support for all worship services and events. This includes (but is not limited to):

• Audio mixing, monitor mixing, and audio recording (knowledge of Behringer X32 series a plus)

• Lighting production (will train on our equipment)

• Switching with multiple cameras (PTZ cameras)

• Video recording, and live streaming production (ATEM Mini Pro)

• ProPresenter presentation

• Prepare stage for rehearsals, worship services, and events

• Initiate successful communication with pastors, Director of Music & Worship, ministry leaders, and event coordinators to help facilitate a/v needs.

Long-Term Goals: Ensure that every worship service and event at St. Mark Presbyterian Church is vibrant, distraction-free, and technically well supported.

Recruit, train, equip, schedule, and lead a/v volunteers.

Long-Term Goal: Create a healthy rotation of a/v volunteers who help to ensure quality, distraction-free environments for worship services and events; begin moving into spiritual mentoring relationships with volunteers.

Update and maintain production technologies. Ensure that worship technologies are in working order and advise on future purchases. Oversee any technical installation and keep reliable records for purchases and licensing.

Long-Term Goal: All production technologies are at or approaching industry standards.

In-house video production. Oversee video production for worship services, including capturing, live streaming, and some post-production editing as required.

Long-Term Goal: Enhance, expand, and maximize the efficiency of the video aspect of our technical ministry.

Work collaboratively with other church staff to manage the website and social media sites. This includes (but is not limited to):

• Manage content, posts, and site maintenance on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube

• Update the St. Mark website weekly

• Revise and redesign website content as needed

• Monitor analytics on all online platforms and recommend changes to increase interactions and improve St. Mark’s reach.

Long-Term Goal: Ensure that St. Mark’s online presence is accurate, appropriate, engaging, and dynamic across all platforms.

Attend weekly staff meetings (in person or virtually) to stay engaged with worship plans, church activities, and church staff.

Long-Term Goal: Become an integral member of the St. Mark staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in any one of the four Essential Functions / Responsibilities above. Will train as needed, but familiarity with ProPresenter 7, ATEM Mini Pro, and Behringer X32 are preferred.

Experience with building and maintaining websites in WordPress.

Experience with all aspects of maintaining Facebook, Instagram and YouTube accounts.

Knowledge of site analytics and how to use the information to build an online audience.

Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve quickly.

Personal Relationship with Jesus; be able to communicate personal testimony

Awareness of the nuances of social media and how posts from a church need to meet a higher standard

Experience with musical group settings

Engaging personality/enthusiasm to connect with the congregation and the St. Mark staff

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Light work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Stooping, Reaching, Standing, Walking, Pushing, Pulling, Lifting, Fingering, Grasping, Feeling, Talking, Hearing, Repetitive motion 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position operates in a church environment

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and printers, but also works with specialty equipment such as projectors, livestream equipment, digital sound board, digital lighting controls, monitors, cameras, etc. 

COMMITMENT: (8 hrs/week minimum to 15 hrs/week maximum)

This position oversees the tech team production on Sunday services. Currently this is a single service. Hours would vary some, but essentially from 9:30 -12:00. There is a potential for the church to go back to two services in the future at which time the hours would be from 8:00 – 12:30.

The praise band practices on Tuesday nights and would like to have support in the tech booth for both sound and slides. Hours are from 6:30PM until ~8:00PM every other Tuesday until two services / week start back up and then there should be a practice each week.

This position also requires attending weekly staff meetings (in person or virtually) which are from Noon to 1 pm on Tuesdays; attending bi-monthly (6/year) Communications Committee meetings (in person or virtually) which are from 10-11 am on the 3rd Tuesday of even months; and working remotely ~3-4 hours/week to complete website and social media functions. 

EVALUATION: After an initial 90-day evaluation, the Senior Pastor, the Elder of Worship and Elder of Personnel will conduct an annual performance review. Adequacy of performance will be judged by quality of work done, efficiency of a self-directed schedule for accomplishing the assigned duties, and ability to respond graciously to all church employees, Ministry Committee members and Congregation members.
